Why does my screen look dark through polarized lenses?

Polarized lenses can make some LCD screens, including certain phones and dashboard displays, look darker or black at particular angles. This is a normal interaction between the lens and screen polarizing filters, not a defect. Try tilting your head or rotating the device to improve visibility, or remove your sunglasses when safe to do so.
